Suspension of shipping on the Danube river
There will be two times suspension of shipping on the Danube river.
The Danube River Shipping Directorate received a message from the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia for the repair works on the Žeželj Bridge 1253 + 300 km along the Danube in the Novi Sad region.
It informs the Secretariat of the Danube Commission that the final phase of the bridge repair works has been completed, which includes the construction of two openings located in the central part of the bridge. Given the technology of construction, it is reported that in the course of these activities, shipping will be stopped twice:
- The first stop of shipping for a period of 5 to 7 days is scheduled from 5 to 12 July 2017. The second will be with of the same duration, from 29 July to 5 August 2017.
Skippers will be duly informed of the exact dates and duration of stopping shipments through Notices to Shipowners (NtS). - In connection with the above information, it is reported that, after the Žeželj Bridge has been put into operation, the temporary road and road bridge “Boško Perošević”, which for 17 years is a critical area in Serbia, will be abolished. There will be more information regarding this matter.
